FAQ
Common Questions
Who can join AAFA?
AAFA is open to entrepreneurs, investors, and allies of all backgrounds, genders, and ethnicities. While our mission focuses on expanding African American franchise ownership, we welcome everyone who shares our commitment to inclusive economic opportunity.
Do I need to already own a franchise to join?
Not at all. Many of our members are aspiring owners in the research and planning phase. AAFA is designed to support you at every stage — from initial exploration through multi-unit ownership.
What is the difference between Associate and Member tiers?
The Associate tier is ideal for those in the early exploration phase. The Member tier adds mentorship matching, brand introductions, financing resources, and advocacy representation — making it the right choice for anyone actively pursuing ownership.
How does mentorship matching work?
Member-tier members are matched with an experienced AAFA franchise owner based on industry interest, geography, and goals. Mentors commit to regular check-ins and are available to answer questions throughout your ownership journey.
Is my membership tax-deductible?
AAFA is a trade association. Membership dues may be deductible as a business expense. Please consult your tax advisor for guidance specific to your situation.
